Ferromagnetic quantum phase transition in Sr1−xCaxRuO3 thin films

چکیده
The ferromagnetic quantum phase transition in the perovskite ruthenate Sr1−xCaxRuO3 is studied by lowtemperature magnetization and electrical resistivity measurements on thin films. The films were grown epitaxially on SrTiO3 substrates using metalorganic aerosol deposition and characterized by X-ray diffraction and room temperature scanning tunneling microscopy. High residual resistivity ratios of 29 and 16 for x = 0 and x = 1, respectively, prove the high quality of the investigated samples. We observe a continuous suppression of the ferromagnetic Curie temperature from TC = 160 K at x = 0 towards TC → 0 at xc ≈ 0.8. The analysis of the electrical resistivity between 2 and 10 K reveals T 2 and T 3/2 behavior at x ≤ 0.6 and x ≥ 0.7, respectively. For undoped CaRuO3, the measurement has been extended down to 60 mK, revealing a crossover to T 2 behavior around 2 K, which suggests a Fermi-liquid ground state in this system.

PHASE TRANSITIONS IN DISORDERED SYSTEMS by FAWAZ
Disorder can have a wide variety of consequences for the physics of phase transitions. Some transitions remain unchanged in the presence of disorder while others are completely destroyed. In this thesis we study the effects of disorder on several classical and quantum phase transitions in condensed matter systems. After a brief introduction, we study the ferromagnetic phase transition in a rand...

This paper addresses the annealing temperature effect on nanostructure and phase transition of copper oxide thin films, deposited by PVD method on glass substrate (at 110 nm thickness) and post annealed at different temperatures (200-400°C) with a flow of 1 cm3s-1 Oxygen. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) was employed for crystallographic and phase analyses, while atomic force m...
متن کاملAnomalous, hysteretic, transverse magnetoresistance in superconducting thin films with magnetic vortex arrays
We have studied a superconducting/ferromagnetic hybrid system in which the normal to superconducting phase transition is controlled by the magnetic history. An anomalous transverse resistance appears at the phase transition, which shows magnetic hysteresis and a strong current dependence. We show that the anomaly originates from current redistributions due to the inhomogeneous superconductivity...
متن کاملExchange anisotropy and the dynamic phase transition in thin ferromagnetic Heisenberg films.
Monte Carlo simulations have been performed to investigate the dependence of the dynamic phase behavior on the bilinear exchange anisotropy of a classical Heisenberg spin system. The system under consideration is a planar thin ferromagnetic film with competing surface fields subject to a pulsed oscillatory external field. The results show that the films exhibit a single discontinuous dynamic ph...
متن کاملElectric-field control of magnetic moment in Pd
Several magnetic properties have recently become tunable with an applied electric field. Particularly, electrically controlled magnetic phase transitions and/or magnetic moments have attracted attention because they are the most fundamental parameters in ferromagnetic materials. In this study, we showed that an electric field can be used to control the magnetic moment in films made of Pd, usual...
